Ontario Sportsbooks Compared

The iGaming Ontario directory covers 84 gambling sites operated by 49 companies. The operator is the licensed business standing behind a site, and a single operator may run more than one of them.

Plenty of sites cover several categories at once, which is why these figures total more than 84. A betting exchange lets players wager against one another rather than against the site itself. In Ontario, STX stands alone as the only one.

According to iGaming Ontario, you must be at least 19 and physically inside Ontario when you place a bet. Your location at the moment you bet is what counts, not your home address.

OLG.ca is legal too, even though the directory does not list it, since OLG operates it directly. Its sportsbook online goes by the name PROLINE+.

Licensed sportsbooks all operate under the same AGCO betting standards. Standard 2.15.1 requires that each bet and each payout be handled in Canadian dollars.

A parlay combines several picks into a single bet, and the site has to label it clearly as one. When the price of a bet shifts before you place it, the site must either get you to confirm the updated price or give you the option to pull the bet back.

We do not rank sportsbooks, because every licensed site has to meet identical Ontario standards. What actually helps you pick is looking at the ways they genuinely differ. A few offer apps on both iPhone and Android, others only on iPhone, and one offers no app at all. Some stick to sports wagers alone, while the rest add casino games or poker.

Comparing sign-up deals isn't a fair approach either, since AGCO standard 2.05 stops sites from promoting them publicly.

Because the directory only applies to Ontario, a site famous in other parts of Canada might not appear there. Unibet and Rivalry are two examples that aren't listed. Setting aside OLG's PROLINE+, any sportsbook absent from the directory falls outside the group of sites licensed to operate in Ontario.

The majority of sportsbooks in the directory offer an app through the Canadian App Store or Google Play. The ones that don't simply run in your phone's browser.

Pinnacle is the one sportsbook here without any app, so on your phone you simply open it in the browser instead.
